The 2021-2026 BMW M3 Competition G80 redefined the everyday super-sedan by delivering relentless, year-round supercar-baiting acceleration. Famous for its devastating point-to-point pace, it dominated instrumented group tests by defeating rivals costing twice as much in wet or dry conditions.
Under the hood lies the S58 engine, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine utilizing a forged crankshaft and a 3D-printed cylinder head core. In Competition trim, this powerplant produces 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, revving cleanly to a 7,200-rpm redline with lag-free delivery.
Power is routed through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission to either the rear wheels or the rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Supported by adaptive dampers, a stiffened subframe, and an active differential, this setup yields unshakeable lateral grip and rapid corner-exit traction.
Replacing the F80 generation, the G80 stands as the final purely combustion-powered M3 before the nameplate transitions to electric and hybrid successors. It remains highly coveted by drivers for its dual-purpose usability, ensuring its status as a landmark driver's car of the decade.
