Fitment tips
Fitment can come down to more than year, make and model. Sometimes the sub-model decides, so start with the fitment table below.
- Drive type. If your car is all-wheel drive, make sure the part is for all-wheel drive, not rear-wheel drive.
- Engine size. For engine parts, make sure the engine size on the product matches your engine.
- Transmission. Manual and automatic cars often take different parts.
- Body style. Sedan or hatch, two-door or four-door, cab and bed length on trucks.

The 1984-1988 Pontiac Fiero GT pioneered affordable mid-engine packaging for American enthusiasts, delivering a balanced weight distribution that defied domestic norms. Utilizing innovative composite outer panels over a steel space frame, it became a unique, corrosion-resistant autocross weapon.
Powering the GT is the L44 2.8-liter overhead-valve V6 engine. This mid-mounted, naturally aspirated powerplant utilizes multi-port fuel injection to produce 135 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 165 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm, offering linear throttle response and a distinct exhaust note.
Drivers chose between a three-speed automatic or a Getrag-designed five-speed manual transaxle. While early models used T-body components, the 1988 GT received a bespoke, tri-link rear suspension and revised front geometry, yielding exceptional lateral grip and precise, unassisted steering feedback.
Pontiac built 370,168 Fieros, with the late-model GTs commanding the highest collector demand today. This clean-sheet design replaced no existing model in the division's lineup, and GM’s abrupt cancellation of the program in 1988 left the innovative mid-engine platform without a direct successor.
