The 2023-2026 BMW M3 Touring G81 redefined the high-performance wagon by clinching the Nürburgring estate record with an official 7:35.06 lap. As the first official production M3 wagon in history, it combines genuine supercar track capability with five-door utility, creating the ultimate rapid daily driver.
Under the aluminum hood lies the S58 engine, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six. This highly tunable powerplant delivers 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. It utilizes a forged crankshaft and 3D-printed cylinder head core to safely sustain its high 7,200 rpm redline.
An eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission pairs with a rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Combined with adaptive M suspension, stiffened rear chassis bracing, and an Active M Differential, this setup grants the wagon immense all-weather traction and sharp, predictable cornering agility.
Though still in production, the G81 has no direct predecessor, finally filling a void left since the 2000 E46 Touring concept. It remains a highly coveted driver's car with strong residual values. Production will conclude around 2026, destined to be succeeded by hybrid or fully electric M division successors.
