The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon secured its place in history as the first production car capable of lifting its front wheels during launch. Built solely for the 2018 model year, this street-legal drag racer set a certified 0-60 mph time of 2.3 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds.
Under the Air-Grabber hood sits the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, designated as the Demon engine. This cast-iron block, aluminum-head powerplant produces 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque when running on 100-octane fuel, assisted by a massive 2.7-liter twin-screw supercharger.
A TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic transmission channels power to the rear wheels. Optimized for drag racing, the chassis features Bilstein adaptive damping shocks tuned for maximum weight transfer, a factory-installed TransBrake system, and bespoke 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R drag radial tires.
Dodge limited production to 3,300 units, making it a highly coveted collector car today. It sat above the standard SRT Hellcat in the brand's lineup and paved the way for the eventual 1,025-horsepower Demon 170, cementing its role as the catalyst for Dodge's extreme drag-strip lineage.
