The 2018-2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JL defined modern showroom-ready off-road capability. Engineered to conquer extreme terrain directly from the factory, it dominated the 4x4 segment with an 84:1 crawl ratio and electronic front sway-bar disconnects, making it the benchmark for technical rock crawling.
Under the hood, the ERG Pentastar V6 engine displaces 3.6 liters in a 60-degree layout. It generates 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This naturally aspirated powerplant utilizes dual overhead camshafts and variable valve timing to deliver a broad, predictable torque curve.
Built on a steel frame, the Rubicon utilizes Dana 44 solid axles with electronic lockers. Power flows through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the Rock-Trac transfer case, which features a 4:1 low-range ratio. This setup enables exceptional wheel articulation and low-speed crawling over obstacles.
Replacing the long-running JK series, the JL remains highly coveted by off-roaders and collectors alike. Despite high production volume, clean Rubicons command strong resale value. As the JL run concludes in 2026, it prepares to yield to the highly anticipated next-generation Wrangler platform.
