The 2015-2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat redefined the modern horsepower war by becoming the first mass-production muscle car to break the 700-horsepower barrier. It dominated drag strips with a certified 11.2-second quarter-mile time on street tires, offering supercar-level straight-line speed.
Power comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine, internally designated as the Hellcat. This iron-block, aluminum-head overhead-valve engine utilizes a 2.4-liter twin-screw IHI supercharger pushing 11.6 psi of boost. It delivers an output of 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
Built on the LA platform, it features a three-mode Bilstein adaptive damping suspension and Brembo six-piston front brakes. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual or a TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic, making it an exceptional high-speed grand touring machine.
With over 40,000 units produced, the Hellcat remains highly coveted by collectors. It replaced the naturally aspirated SRT8 392 as Dodge's flagship performance model. Production ended in late 2023, marking the end of pure-ICE muscle before Dodge transitioned to the electric Charger Daytona.
