The 2014-2020 Jaguar F-Type R earned its reputation through a famously antisocial, crackling active bypass exhaust system. Delivering brutal straight-line speed, this model dominated its class by pairing front-engine muscle with a ferocious auditory signature that turbocharged rivals could not match.
At its heart is the AJ133, a 5.0-liter supercharged 90-degree V8 engine. Featuring a twin-vortex Roots-type supercharger, this all-aluminum powerplant generates 550 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 502 pound-feet of torque from just 2,500 rpm, delivering immediate throttle response.
Power routes through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission to an active all-wheel-drive system. Supported by continuously variable adaptive dampers and an electronic active differential with torque vectoring, this rigid aluminum chassis excels at high-speed stability and sharp cornering.
Replacing the grand-touring XKR, this generation of the F-Type R was succeeded by the facelifted 2021 model. While Jaguar kept overall production numbers limited, today's enthusiasts specifically target early rear-wheel-drive 2015 models for their hydraulic steering and raw handling dynamics.
