The 2010-2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS redefined the modern muscle car era by outselling its chief rival for five consecutive years. It brought racetrack-ready handling to a segment long dominated by straight-line drag racers, proving that American muscle could finally conquer demanding road courses.
Under the aluminum hood lies the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine. This all-aluminum pushrod powerplant produces 426 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque when paired with the manual gearbox. It features a 10.7:1 compression ratio and high-flow cylinder heads derived from the Corvette.
Built on GM's Zeta platform, the SS utilizes a fully independent multi-link rear suspension and Brembo four-piston calipers. Power goes to the rear wheels via a Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, providing excellent high-speed cornering stability.
Chevrolet produced over 500,000 fifth-generation units. This model resurrected the nameplate after an eight-year hiatus following the 2002 fourth-generation car, and was succeeded by the Alpha-platform model in 2016. Today, the SS is highly prized by drivers seeking a durable, analog V8 platform.
