The 2008-2014 Lexus IS F shattered Europe's monopoly on luxury sport sedans by pairing track-ready performance with bulletproof Toyota reliability. It was the first Japanese contender to challenge the BMW M3 directly, offering a daily-driveable high-performance package with exceptional durability.

Under the bulged hood sits the 2UR-GSE engine, a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 developed in partnership with Yamaha. Featuring a die-cast aluminum block and high-flow cylinder heads, this powerplant produces 416 horsepower and 371 lb-ft of torque, utilizing dual VVT-i with electric intake control.

Power goes to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission with a lockup clutch, enabling 0.1-second shifts. A double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, combined with Brembo brakes and a Torsen limited-slip differential, optimizes high-speed track stability.

With roughly 11,500 units produced globally, the sedan remains highly sought after by driving enthusiasts today. Having no direct predecessor in the Lexus lineup, it launched the brand's F performance division from scratch before the RC F coupe and GS F sedan eventually succeeded it.
