The 2005-2017 Aston Martin V8 Vantage redefined the modern sports car by blending Henrik Fisker’s near-perfect proportions with a stiff, bonded-aluminum chassis. It was built to challenge the Porsche 911 directly, offering a raw, analog driving experience that became the benchmark for GT styling.

Under the aluminum hood lies a dry-sump, 32-valve V8 engine. Initially a 4.3-liter AJ37 producing 380 horsepower and 302 pound-feet of torque, it grew to a 4.7-liter unit in 2008. This updated powerplant bumped output to 420 horsepower, pushing the coupe to a top speed of 180 miles per hour.

Built on the bonded-aluminum VH platform, the Vantage utilizes a rear-mounted transaxle, using either a six-speed manual or a Sportshift automated manual, to achieve a 49:51 weight distribution. Double wishbones and a rear limited-slip differential deliver superb high-speed cornering stability.

With nearly 22,000 units built, this generation remains Aston Martin’s most successful model. It effectively succeeded the DB7 as the brand's entry point and was replaced by the twin-turbo V8 model in 2018. Today, manual 4.7-liter examples are highly prized by collectors for their analog purity.
