The 2003-2009 Hummer H2 redefined domestic off-road capability by delivering a 40-degree approach angle and 9.7 inches of ground clearance straight from the factory. It dominated the full-size SUV class with its ability to scale 16-inch steps and ford 20 inches of water, making it an unmatched trail machine.

Early models utilize the iron-block 6.0-liter LQ4 V8 engine, a longitudinal pushrod design producing 316 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque. In 2008, GM upgraded the H2 to the all-aluminum 6.2-liter L92 V8, which raised output to a stout 393 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque.

Built on a hybrid GMT800/820 heavy-duty frame, the H2 features a BorgWarner full-time four-wheel-drive system and a 4L65-E four-speed automatic transmission. An independent front torsion bar and five-link coil rear suspension provide the wheel articulation needed to conquer extreme rock crawls.

With over 150,000 units built, the H2 is now a highly sought-after modern classic among off-road collectors. It successfully brought the extreme presence of the original H1 to a wider market, serving as the brand's flagship until the smaller H3 took over as the final gas-powered Hummer.
