The 2001-2006 Honda Integra Type R DC5 set the benchmark for front-wheel-drive handling, delivering steering precision and high-rpm engagement unmatched by its contemporary rivals. It remains respected for its near-zero body roll and a helical limited-slip differential that defied front-drive physics.
Powering the coupe is the naturally aspirated K20A engine, a 2.0-liter dual-overhead-cam inline-four featuring i-VTEC variable valve timing. It produces 220 metric horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 206 Newton-meters of torque at 7,000 rpm, sending power to the front wheels with an 8,400 rpm redline.
The chassis utilizes a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission paired with a torque-sensing helical limited-slip differential. Upfront, MacPherson struts replace the older double-wishbone setup, working with a rear reactive-link double-wishbone suspension to maximize high-speed cornering stability.
With roughly 13,500 units produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this model is highly prized by collectors today. It replaced the DC2 platform and represents the final chapter of the Integra Type R lineage, as no direct successor was ever built under the nameplate.
