The 1969-1972 Nissan Skyline GT-R forged its reputation by securing 49 consecutive Japanese touring car victories. Known as the Hakosuka, this machine dominated domestic motorsport by combining road-car usability with pure racing pedigree. It proved a Japanese car could defeat established European rivals, setting a high-performance benchmark that still commands reverence.

Under the hood sits the S20 engine, a 1,989 cc dual overhead cam inline-six derived from a pure race unit. Featuring four valves per cylinder and triple Mikuni-Solex carburetors, this high-revving powerplant produces 160 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 130 pound-feet of torque at 5,600 rpm, delivering linear, mechanical power all the way up to its strict 7,500 rpm redline.

To harness this power, Nissan equipped the car with a five-speed manual transmission and a rear-wheel-drive layout featuring a standard limited-slip differential. The chassis utilizes MacPherson struts up front and an independent semi-trailing arm suspension at the rear. Nissan produced just 1,945 examples across sedan and coupe variants, making it a highly coveted prize for modern collectors and drivers. This model succeeded the Prince Skyline 2000GT-B, transitioning the badge to a dedicated performance division, and was replaced by the KPGC110 "Kenmeri" GT-R before the badge entered a sixteen-year production hiatus.
